Why Are We Shocked When Celebrities Actually Drink Good Wine
Jimmy Butler's Wine Collection is good, but I don't want him to make a wine

Celebrity wine culture is fickle. We like our celebrities and we support their work, but it’s shocking how many people are perplexed when their cellars are revealed and what they drink. They should be drinking well.
Jimmy Butler, a great NBA player was recently featured in the Robb Report and his 11,000 bottle collection. His collection is impressive and features some of the major “collector” brands such as Sassicaia (the first wine he ever tried, my God) and many top Bordeaux (I’m going to guess Mouton, Latour, Lafite Rothschild, Margaux and Haut Brion) and Burgundy wines (Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Leroy Musigny).
I don’t have any issues with his collection, because now I want to talk and sip wine with him. People are grappling with the range and size of his wine collection. The man is a multi-milionaire many times over. What do people expect him to drink? I read the comments. Many were positive, but of course many of the wine snobs didn’t appreciate how he got his first sip. On a movie set with Mark Wahlberg. I found it hilarious. We also know race plays a role in the “shock value.”
I posted about this on Threads and after one week it has over 85,000 views which is shocking. The comments were between gasps of how he can ever drink all this wine to how much we think his collection is worth. My guess is well over ten million dollars at auction if he ever decides to sell it.
We have been bombarded with celebrity wine and spirits products that we find it impossible to believe he could actually enjoy wine without trying to make money from it.
Don’t get me wrong. A few celebrity wines get it right for my palate. Since palates are subjective, it can be hard to say what’s good to me is bad for someone else. But most are “un good.”
Most celebrity wines are so bad they wouldn’t pour it on a cut.
Jimmy, please don’t make a wine. Let us drink vicariously through your collection.
And thank you for holding the glass by the stem.
TALK ABOUT IT!
"The man is a multi-milionaire many times over. What do people expect him to drink?" This comment is exactly how I felt regarding the criticism of Megan Sussex's new show. She's literally a Duchess. What were we expecting a Duchess to eat/drink??
Great read, Julia 💕
