I’ve been to Portugal a lot for work. I lead a yearly food and wine trip there with Up in the Air Life and as a wine judge for the Wines of Portugal challenge. Portugal feels like home in a lot of ways.
Lisbon is Portugal’s largest city and the capital. A coastal city with a history steeped in African culture. Portugal transported millions of slaves from Africa to America. Therefore, you can find a country rich with African history, music, and culture everywhere you look.
Lisbon is one of the best food cities in Europe and if you are open and adventurous, you can’t leave without a thirst for Portugal and wanting to plan a return trip. Leave a lot of room in your suitcase for wine and conservas (tinned seafood).
